Day 2
07.00 - 08.00

WAKE UP RUN & YOGA

We can’t think about innovation without also taking into consideration our personal well-being. And so, those taking part in REbuild are invited to join us for an easy, panoramic run along the lakefront or a Fluid Yoga session, which will take place at 7 o’clock on the morning of 30th May.
The meeting point will be the entrance to the Congress Centre and a sports t-shirt will be provided – an elegant stimulus towards innovation and movement. Changing rooms will also be available.
Sporting activities are an excellent, tried and tested networking opportunity that this year are kindly offered by Manni Group.

09.00 - 10.30

D-Factor: the quality of the product in the new industrialised building industry

Design culture is confronted today with an important phase of transformation of technologies and of the process. The vital contribution of the designer and of his technical and creative capacity becomes even more essential in a context in which 4.0 construction emphasises standardisation and modularity. Two protagonists of design in Italy, Femia Atelier(s) and Lombardini 22, will analyse three projects in terms of architectural quality and design effectiveness.

MODERATED BY: Ezio Micelli, Chairman of the Scientific Committee - REbuild

TALKS BY

  • Diego De Nardi, Founder - Prefarch
  • Mario Mariotto, Architect
  • Stefano Testa, Founder - LEAPfactory
  • Andrea Argentieri, Argentieri Architects
  • Roberto Cereda, Head of Engineering & Sustainability - Lombardini 22
09.00 - 10.30

THE DIGITAL PROCESS: PROCUREMENT – DESIGN - REALISATION

The digital infrastructure is increasingly evident, not only as an enabling element for innovation, but also as a prerequisite for the radical transformation, at each stage, of the built environment in the perspective of its improved efficiency and sustainability. Three case histories and three key processes will highlight: the preliminary design, the procurement of public tenders, the executive design, the interface with manufacturing and digital production.

INTRODUCED and MODERATED BY: Matteo Robiglio, Professor and architect – Turin Polytechnic

TALKS BY

  • Giuseppe Martino Di Giuda, Associate Professor – Milan Polytechnic
  • Franco Piva, Owner - Ergodomus Timber Engineering
  • Pierpaolo Ruttico, Founder - IndexLab
09.00 - 10.30

DEMO AREA

Off-site construction has also become reality in Italy: as of this year, it will be possible to experience the innovation implemented by the sector's leading companies and REbuild partners in a demonstration area.
A travelling session that will explore new technologies and products, verifying how they operate and their functionality.

11.00 - 13.00

SOLUTIONS FOR A CIRCULAR BUILDING INDUSTRY

For a number of years, real estate was seen as a sector with little inclination towards the dimension of sustainability and innovation. The most attentive real estate operators have invested in certified LEED operations to signal a different kind of attention to energy and environmental issues and a different build quality. Now the most aware developers are looking for real estate products that are consistent with the principles of circular economy and capable of higher levels of productivity and efficiency, in a market that still offers a limited number of options and solutions. In this session, COIMA SGR will present the major quality parameters that it plans to apply to upcoming real estate operations, highlighting the technical challenges to workshop participants – coordinated by the ARUP engineering company – giving them the chance to discuss and put forward products, components and integrated solutions.

INTRODUCED BY:

  • Guglielmo Carra, Europe Materials Consulting Lead - ARUP
  • Stefano Corbella, Sustainability Officer - COIMA
  • Thomas Miorin, President - REbuild
11.00 - 12.00

ENERGY: THE LEVER TO PASS TO A LARGER SCALE

There is no shortage of cases in Italy that are able to achieve ambitious targets for innovation and decarbonisation. But how to move on to the larger scale? Energy, as demonstrated by Energiesprong and numerous international experiences, can represent a lever to reach an exponentially greater scale, even under conditions of lower incentives than the current ones. What can be done in Italy? The session will try to respond, analysing both the new roles that the utilities will play, the new low-cost tools and the technologies available to operators to achieve ambitious results.

INTRODUCED and MODERATED BY: Giuliano Dall’O, Chairman - GBC Italia

TALKS BY

  • Andrea Costa, Co-Founder and Managing Partner - R2M Solution
  • Bruno Bellò, Founder - Clivet SpA
  • Paolo Quaini, Responsabile Servizi Energetici e Ambientali - Edison S.p.A.
12.00 - 13.00

GREEN INFRASTRUCTURES

The modernisation of infrastructures represents a challenge for the country that cannot be separated from the efficient use of resources and a conscious re-use of the stock already available. Car-free cities, safe and interconnected forms of mobility, investments aimed at promoting energy efficiency and development: these will be some of the challenges for areas interested in combining accessibility, competitiveness and sustainability. The session will present 3 European primates: Helsinki, a city that aspires to carbon neutrality by 2035; the Brenner Motorway, considered to be the greenest motorway in Europe, and Savona, the first city in our continent to choose to monitor and certify its environmental and social performance with LEED for Cities.

INTRODUCED and MODERATED BY: Maurizio Carta, Chairman of the Polytechnic School – Palermo University

TALKS BY

  • Carlo Costa, General Technical Director - Brenner Motorway
  • Carlo De Vito, Chairman - FS Urban Systems
  • Daniele Guglielmino, Senior Sustainability Specialist - Manens-Tifs
14.30 - 16.30

Closing Plenary Session: MODERNISE OR DIE. THE NEED FOR CHANGE IN CONSTRUCTIONS

The future is now: production processes capable of restoring quality and sustainability to our existing heritage, cities capable of taking on board decarbonisation and medium-term sustainability with policies and choices already being implemented, business models and technologies capable of transforming the way we think about buildings and real estate. An out of the ordinary Italian redevelopment experience and the report that has changed the face of British buildings will be the two provocations that will stimulate the round table discussion, to take stock of the agenda of an industry that is confronted with innovation and the challenges of contemporaneity.

INTRODUCED and MODERATED BY: Thomas Miorin, Chairman - REbuild
